As Erie continues to grow, so does the need to ensure that our public facilities, including the Erie Municipal Airport, operate sustainably and keep pace with our neighboring communities.
The Erie Town Council is considering changes to several fee and rental rates, including Commercial Through the Fence (TTF) fees, nightly and monthly tie-downs, port-a-port monthly rent, and fuel flowage fees. These fees help fund day-to-day operations and long-term projects that keep the Airport safe and functional for all users – now and in the future.
Please note: proposed fee updates and this engagement process will not affect Residential Through the Fence (TTF) fees through the Erie Airpark Home Owners Association.
Many of these fees have not changed since 2008, so Erie’s rates have fallen behind other general aviation airports across northern Colorado and have not kept up with the cost of ongoing maintenance and basic operations. In 2023, the Town increased the financial transparency for the Airport fund, revealing a significant operational deficit. To keep the Airport running smoothly in both 2024 and 2025, the Town General Fund contributed more than $200,000. Updating the fees is a vital step toward making the Airport self-sustaining.

Which fees and rental rates will be impacted? What are they for?
Commercial Through the Fence (TTF) fees, which are charged to commercial aeronautical users with direct “through the fence” access to the Airport.
Nightly and Monthly Tie-Down fees, which provide an option for pilots to store their aircraft outside on the Airport apron.
Monthly rent for Port-a-Ports, which are portable T-Hangars for aeronautical use located west of the FBO building at the Airport.
Fuel Flowage fee, which is a per-gallon charge on fuel dispensed at the Airport.

No, proposed fee updates and this engagement process will not affect Residential Through the Fence (TTF) fees through the Erie Airpark Home Owners Association. Expanded engagement opportunities for Residential TTF fees will follow in upcoming years. All affected residents of Erie Airpark will be notified.
What if I don't agree with these updates?
Those who currently pay Commercial TTF fees may move to an area without direct access to the Airport if they object to the proposed fee updates.
Port-a-Port owners may relocate their Port-a-Ports off of Erie Municipal Airport grounds if they object to the proposed fee updates.
Tie-Down and Fuel Flowage fees are only applied to users of those services, and those opposed to the proposed fee updates may elect not to utilize these services.
How will fee and rental payments be made?
Payments will be collected by Jason Hurd, Airport Manager, on behalf of Erie Municipal Airport.
