The Town of Erie was awarded a Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) grant for an I-25 Interchange and Multimodal Study. The Town is studying how people travel along and across I-25 between the Erie Parkway and CO 52 interchanges. The I-25 Interchange and Multimodal Study will help the Town evaluate corridor operations, including congestion, travel times, intersection performance, and safety. It will also look at multimodal connectivity for people driving, walking, biking, and using transit, as well as access to nearby neighborhoods and businesses. Community input, traffic data, and growth projections will inform design concepts and help set priorities for phased improvements over the next 40 years.
Project Goals:
The study will help provide guidance for future decisions
about:
- Interchange and ramp operations
- Local street connections and circulation
- Walking, biking, and trail connections
- Potential future transit access
- Coordination with nearby development and regional partners
- Timeframe of improvements
When complete, the study will outline a set of projects and priorities the Town and partners can use to seek funding and move into design and construction.
Funding:
The study is funded by regional transportation dollars awarded through the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), together with a local contribution from the Town of Erie. It will be coordinated with CDOT, Town of Frederick, and nearby communities.
