As Erie has grown, so has the variety of ways people use their homes – including as short-term rentals (STRs). These properties are sometimes referred to as vacation rentals, VRBOs, or AirBnBs.
Like many growing communities, Erie is seeing increased interest in short-term rentals. With the Sundance Film Festival beginning in nearby Boulder next year, and continued growth throughout the region, STRs are becoming an increasingly important lodging option for visitors.
We recognize the benefits that short-term rentals can provide to both property owners and the community. They offer additional lodging options for visitors, support local businesses by bringing more people into Erie, and can help homeowners make the most of their property. At the same time, as STRs become more common, it's important that we establish clear, thoughtful regulations that balance these benefits with the needs of surrounding neighbors.
Please take some time to be part of this process through the activities below. We appreciate your help in shaping policies that will serve Erie well as our community continues to grow!
